IDENTIFYING DAMP
Following instructions from a regular client of ours and the main contractors, our Property Care Association (PCA) qualified damp and timber surveyor visited the property to carry out a survey on damp walls, in accordance with their instructions. The property was in the process of undergoing considerable restoration and being converted into another of Cote’s Brasserie Restaurant. Moisture readings taken using a hand held Protimeter Survey Master damp meter, in measure mode, confirmed that the walls were damp and in need of damp proofing. Our usual detailed report and floor plan was issued to our client and on acceptance of our recommendations we commenced the treatment.
ERADICATING DAMP
Our fully trained and experience operatives attended the property and proceeded to pattern drill the base of the affected walls, horizontally withing the chosen mortar joints. Vertical holes were the drilled where specified and all of the holes were cleared of brick dust in preparation for our damp course. The holes were injected with a Silan/Siloxane cream damp proof course solution at the approved rates to form an impervious barrier to prevent further rising damp.
On this occasion the client chose to carry out the damp proof plastering, although this is not advisable if you do not have experience of applying a damp proof plastering system, which is a very important part of our system.
