IDENTIFYING DAMP & WOOD ROT 

Eradicating Wood Rot

Very extensive timber treatment and damp proofing works were carried out to the main house, cottages and stables of the farm in Thorpe Theme Park, in Chertsey, Surrey. Tapco HomeDry carried out this work over several months which included applying preservation treatment to roof and flooring timbers of all buildings and replacing heavily affected timbers with new pre-treated timber. Floorboards were lifted to the affected areas to expose the sub-floor timbers, known as joists and plates. The rotted timbers were identified and tested and all wood beyond treatment was cut out and carefully disposed of. The oversite was cleared of all rubble and new floor plates and joists were laid onto a new damp course membrane, in accordance with good building practice, New air-bricks were installed to increase the sub-floor ventilation and floorboards were then laid to create a new sound, timber floor to last for many years to come.

Eradicating Damp 

Considerable areas of  walls of all of the rooms were damp and were progressively getting worse so large amounts of wall plaster were removed and taken to a designated place for disposal. The walls were then prepared and pattern drilled into the mortar joint, horizontally, along the base of the walls. These were then cleared of dust and injected with a silane/siloxane (cream) damp proof course at the approved rates.The walls were re-plastered, strictly in accordance with our damp proofing specification and the joinery timbers were replaced with new treated timber, primed and left for others to decorate.
